Lagartija Taqueria

We went here for my birthday! I did some moving around of the schedule because we found out Loncar's only serves tacos on Wednesdays. Which meant we obviously needed a new location for the Tuesday of my birthday and Lagartija Taqueria was the next place on the list with booze!

It was such a cute little place, colorfully decorated - the poor waitress was managing the whole place by herself which sucked for her so I empathize that the service wasn't quite up to par. Though I can't gush enough about the location.

Now - you need to forgive me for the lack of detail that is about to ensue. I had a grand total of 2 margaritas and was thusly tipsy. Plus I was socializing with my friends who had decided to come with. So I definitely had my party hat on, instead of my reviewing hat on. (Shut up, it was my birthday) However, even in my state of slight inebriation and general oblivity (Urban Dictionary says it's a word and who can you trust if not Urban Dictionary?), I could tell that these tacos were ON POINT. I had steak and pork and both were delish. I also had a shrimp taco which was delightful but I had no desire to finish it. Fellow taco connoisseur and ride or die babe, Sara Seibt, had no strong opinions about them but enjoyed them.

However, this is all very vague and I figured the fairest bet was to check in with our Guest Judges to see what they thought of the tacos.

Taco enthusiast, Tricia Gopalakrishnan was less than impressed giving them "Eh solid 3"

Shannon Maloney, who specials more so in margaritas, was a bit more forgiving, giving the regular tacos she had a 3.5 and the shrimp taco she consumed a 4.

Scott Kemp, my boyfriend, was quick to rate the tacos. He rated them a 4 (he got the chorizo.)

Dana Michelotti, who has a Ph.D. in Tacos, gave two thumbs way up for the place in general, giving the regular tacos a 4.5 and the Shrimp Tacos a SOLID 5!!!! This is a first in the Taco Tour and I should note and these tacos only received this score because they were "literally unreal."

Totaling up the score we have a taco rating of 3.75! (and a Shrimp Taco Rating of 4.5) I'd give the place itself a 4, but the service wasn't great so it gets a 3.75 on that front as well. But, it also gets a half bonus for having cheap tacos (under $3), but not the full bonus because there were no Taco Tuesday Specials.

However, Recommended. No penalties.

Taco Rating: 3.75/5

Restaurant Rating: 3.75/5

Fish (Shrimp) Taco Rating: 4.5

Taco Tuesday Special: No, but has a Happy Hour special

Average Taco Price: $3.25

Ride or Die: Ride

Overall Rating: 4.125 / 5
